WHO ARE WE?
St. Matthew’s Lutheran School was established in 1897 by the congregation of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
We are accredited by National Lutheran Schools & the State of Connecticut and currently offer a Christian education to children in kindergarten through grade five.
We also offer a five-day nursery program for three and
four-year-olds.
WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL?
St. Matthew’s is dedicated to assisting parents in providing their children Christian education.
We are a small school with an average class size of less than 15. Because of this, we are able to better meet the needs of all our students. In addition, we are a diverse school, accepting students from all ethnic, religious, and academic back-grounds.
We have a dedicated staff which seeks to instill not only knowledge but good work habits and a love of learning in students.
WHAT IS OUR CURRICULUM?
We teach Christian values to our students. Among these are love, kindness, forgiveness, honesty, respect, obedience and trust.
We teach Religion in an age-appropriate manner based on Bible stories.
We offer a challenging curriculum in all subject areas – reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition, we provide weekly instruction in physical education, music & art

All of our classes generally follow the New Britain Public School schedule and bussing is provided for students in grades K-5 within the city of New Britain.
Nursery – 8:30 – 11:30
K-5 – 8:00 – 2:30
After school care can be arranged through several New Britain day care programs.
